Truelife® UV
TECNOLOGIA TRUELIFE® UV

One of the most sought-after technologies in the sportswear and activewear markets, Truelife® UV offers integrated sun protection within the fabric construction. Essential for developing products aimed at daytime outdoor activities, the Truelife® UV technology provides protection against solar rays in the UVA (315 to 400 nm) and UVB (290 to 315 nm) ranges with varying UPF ratings.

HOW DOES THE ULTRAVIOLET PROTECTION FACTOR (UPF) WORK IN FABRICS?

The factor that measures and classifies the protection offered is the Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF), which can range from UPF 15 to 50+.

This means that a fabric with a UPF of 30 allows only 1/30 of the incident radiation to reach the skin, blocking 96.6% of the radiation.

According to the AS/NZS 4399:2017 standard, fabrics with UV protection receive the following ratings:

FPU value Protection Category % radiation blocking
15 minimum ≥ 93,3%
30 good ≥ 96,7%
50, 50+ excellent ≥98,0%

The UPF is obtained through spectrophotometric tests conducted according to the Australian methodology AS/NZS 4399, Sun Protective Clothing – Evaluation and Classification, published and revised in 2017.”
